Affecting millions of people, KOA often progresses slowly but inevitably, diminishing mobility and quality of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While conventional management focuses on pharmacological pain control and physical rehabilitation, the study introduces an emerging perspective \u2014 the involvement of the <strong>endocannabinoid system (ECS)<\/strong> as a <strong>non-pharmacological therapeutic target<\/strong> in physiotherapy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Objectives of the Study<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The research aims to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Examine how <strong>ECS modulation<\/strong> can enhance physiotherapy outcomes in KOA;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identify physiotherapeutic techniques that stimulate endocannabinoid activity;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Highlight a <strong>paradigm shift<\/strong> in pain management from purely mechanical treatment to <strong>neurochemical modulation<\/strong> through physical methods.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Methodology<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The study conducted a systematic literature review of <strong>82 sources<\/strong> related to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>knee osteoarthritis, endocannabinoid system, cannabidiol, inflammatory pain, analgesia, neuropathic pain, physiotherapy, electrotherapy, and LASER therapy.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Seven major international medical databases were searched using well-defined <strong>inclusion and exclusion criteria<\/strong>, ensuring a comprehensive overview of interdisciplinary findings across <strong>rheumatology, neurology, and rehabilitation sciences<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Key Findings<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The results demonstrate that <strong>physiotherapeutic interventions can activate or enhance the endocannabinoid system<\/strong>, providing analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation)<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Specific frequencies and intensities stimulate <strong>endocannabinoid production<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reduces pain perception through <strong>ECS activation<\/strong> and modulation of <strong>nociceptive pathways<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>LASER Biostimulation<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Enhances <strong>cellular metabolism<\/strong>, increases <strong>circulation<\/strong>, and promotes <strong>endocannabinoid signaling<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Supports <strong>tissue regeneration<\/strong> and <strong>pain relief<\/strong> without pharmacological side effects.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Physical Exercise<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Stimulates <strong>endogenous opioids and endocannabinoids<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provides <strong>antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Improves <strong>joint stability<\/strong>, <strong>muscle strength<\/strong>, and overall <strong>functional mobility<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These mechanisms highlight that <strong>pain control in KOA<\/strong> can be achieved not only by targeting joint structures but also by <strong>regulating neurochemical processes<\/strong> that govern pain and inflammation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Discussion<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The findings support a <strong>holistic, neurophysiological model<\/strong> of physiotherapy in osteoarthritis management.
